Happy Valentine's Day

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day.

Perhaps we should go out to dinner.
But what I'd really like is "take out" that we can eat
IN BED.
Maybe a movie.
Hey! I have "Conan the Barbarian" and we could watch it
IN BED.
Ooooooh diamonds.
Just buy me new pajamas from Walmart that I can wear
IN BED.
So the truth is, for Valentine's Day this year,
I would just like to stay
IN BED.

P.S. I know the drawing has nothing to do with my post. Happy Valentine's Day anyway.

Anatomy of a Valentine

Wonder how a drawing comes to be? Well, even if you don't, I thought I'd share how my Valentine came to be this year. Especially since, because I'm sick, I won't get them mailed out.

It started with my new obsession with crocheting.

A cute valentine heart. I crocheted lots of little hearts of varying sizes. They could be found all over the house. There was one in the bottom of the laundry hamper. I gave one to Harry to give to his girlfriend. Anyway, I finally settled on this heart and crocheted 20.

Then came the doodle.

I drew it during Sacrament meeting. I decided I didn't like the pushing and pulling of it so I did more drawing.

I decided this little boy and girl were too stiff.

Oh, and in the meantime I did some other Valentine doodles:

I finally found the perfect little boy and girl and the drawing FINALLY came to life.

I Am Giving You My Heart

I love the old fashioned look. A boy declaring his love! It's every little girl's dream!

Some times drawings come easier than this one. Sometimes it only takes one little doodle. But most often I fret and tweak and draw and erase...

Valentine's Day

I love Valentine's Day!
Lots of red and pink (my favorite colors).
Chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate.
Not to mention flowers and jewelry.

For this year's Valentine drawing, I was inspired by a friend's blog about how you know whether your family is complete.

She'd been watching them for awhile. Waiting...because...Love is patient.

Do you think our children choose us as parents before they're born?
Do you think, maybe, we choose them before we're born?

I wonder if our children watch us, waiting for us to fall in love, to marry, to find the time to have them.

Why do they sometimes wait so long to come to us? Why do they sometimes not come at all?

Love is patient. Love must be patient.
